About PFG

PFG - a proficient and established manufacturer of good quality GRP water storage tanks, engineered for reliability, compliance and ease of installation.

PFG established in 1979 as a specialist manufacturer and installer of GRP water storage tanks, serving the market with a range of one piece and sectional water tank products.

The company was soon credited with Staffordshire's Small Business of the year, recognition of PFG's ability to achieve client objectives, whilst running an efficient manufacturing facility, operated by an experienced and competent team of employees.

Today, PFG operates from a modern 45,000 sq ft composites manufacturing facility, employing 60 members of staff. The company produces over 2000 one piece tanks up to 25,000L in size and deliver over 500 sectional tank contracts a year for its clients, amongst other bespoke GRP structures and products.

This is complemented by investment in a specialist composites design team, resin transfer moulding plant and a management team with over 100 years industry experience, enabling the company to work closely with its clients to identify and achieve bespoke requirements and undertake full service contracts.

Design and service innovations by PFG

The first UK manufacturer to provide

  • a fully self draining base design on sectional tanks. PFG Drainaway® design.
  • a 4.0m deep sectional tank with a self-draining base.
  • a 4.0m deep sectional tank with fully structural internal division walls.
  • factory fitted, durable, thermal insulation on sectional tank panels.
  • durable factory fitted thermal insulation to one-piece water tanks.
  • fully fitted out tanks compliant with Water Regulations Byelaw 30, (Now 16-4 to the Water Regulations)
  • BS5359-3 compliant hand railing system to the perimeter of sectional tanks (now superseded by BS EN 14122)

Health and Safety at PFG

PFG undertake an integrated approach to health and safety and as a result have maintained a successful track record of incidents across the company's operations and 60 employees.

PFG have a unique advantage as a tank manufacturer in that all personnel (including tank fitters) are directly employed by the company, maintaining a high level of health and safety training, controlled by an experienced management team, undertaking regular audits.

In addition, PFG is the only tank manufacturer signed up to the SIMPL pledge (download here) a collaboration between Composites UK, the HSE and industry to promote good practice health and safety in plastics manufacturing.

PFG have one of the widest range of products which are WRAS approved, designed and produced to British Standards including BS13280:2001, BS6920 and BS8558 and comply with best practice and legislation such as the ACoP L8 for prevention of Legionella.
PFG are registered and approved by SAFEcontractor and Constructionline and all site technicians are CSCS cardholders.

Quality standards

PFG are commitment to delivering quality products and services for its clients, accredited to the quality standard ISO 9001:2008 by BSI.

It is the company's intention to manufacture and install products with zero defects, employing a BSI qualified internal auditor to put the management team and operations under examination against stringent process disciplines.

Until this goal is realised, clients can rely on PFG's after sales department, dedicated to rapidly rectifying known issues usually within 48 hours, learning each time to evolve product design, the manufacturing process and employee training to name a few improvements.

This unique resource has been a critical factor to PFG's success and ensures a commitment to good quality products and excellent customer service in line with client's expectations.

Environmental commitment

PFG recognises and accepts that safeguarding the environment for our future is an essential part of its business and aims to conduct all of its activities with this in mind.

Practical examples of PFG's commitment include:

  • Registered waste carriers and working with the supply chain to achieve the objective of zero waste to landfill.
  • Elimination of F Gas and Ozone depleting substances from the product range following a 9 month R&D project.
  • Collaboration with University scholars to assess the viability of manufacturing with more sustainable natural fibre and bio-based resin composites.
  • Reduction of process solvents lost to atmosphere through controlled working practices and by recycling to eradicate hazardous waste.
